Schultz Gets Grilled on Revenue Amendment

Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz (R-Richland Center) was grilled by the Reedsburg School Board on the revenue amendment yesterday.

Ironically, Schultz visited the district to award it with a citation from the state legislature for its high academic achievement, while the problem the board had with the amendment--which Schultz cosponsored--is that they fear it would be detrimental to the district's level of academic achievement.

According to district administrator Tom Benson:
"We like being in the top ranks of test scores, but with [the revenue amendment] we aren't going to be able to keep doing that."

And Reedsburg isn't alone. The Wisconsin Association of School Boards has said the amendment "would jeopardize Wisconsin's long tradition of providing a high quality public K-12 education system and threaten student achievement."
