Not a Good Day for Ney
US Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) won his primary race yesterday, but it wasn't exactly the type of victory that bodes well for the congressman who lies at the center of the Abramoff scandal.
Ney did beat primary challenger James Broadbelt Harris by a 68-32 margin among Republican voters.
But it should be noted that Harris didn't really campaign for the seat. In fact, he never even registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). And the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks campaign finances on its website opensecrets.org, shows that Harris didn't raise a penny for this primary election. I couldn't even find a campaign website for the guy.
And, yet, 1 out of every 3 GOP voters opted for Harris over Ney.
Not exactly a strong primary showing for a six-time incumbent.
