Bumps in the Road

The new prescription drug care plan for seniors and people with disabilities pushed through Congress by key Republicans in 2003 isn't going too smoothly since taking effect on Jan. 1 of this year.

According to the Post: "As many as 6.4 million low-income seniors, who until Dec. 31 received their medications free, suddenly find themselves navigating an insurance maze of large deductibles, co-payments and outright denial of coverage."

I hope for the sake of the people who rely on this system the problems get worked out soon. Thankfully states like Wisconsin are jumping in temporarily to cover the drug costs for those low-income seniors and people with disabilities who would otherwise have no means to pay for them.
