Voucher Envy

Wisconsin state Rep. Robin Vos (R-Caledonia) is proposing a school voucher program for the entire state of Wisconsin. Yeah, you read that right.

Vos is considering drafting a bill on the proposal sometime after the November elections. His bill would have no income limits for participants.

The goal, Vos explains, is to give school choice to every parent in Wisconsin. (If we gave the choice directly to students, I suppose the concern would be that too many would choose “None of the above.”)

Of course, every parent in Wisconsin already has school choice, but I imagine what Vos means is choice to attend a private school using public money.

I wonder what the two Republican gubernatorial candidates think of this idea?
